A Great Summer Celebration Campfire
We started the summer with a fun campfire in the park. We roasted marshmallows, made Smores, and read campfire stories.
For fire pit permits, contact (416) 392 -8188
* Fire must be out by 10 pm
And yes, we believe that the cost of having community campfires at Withrow Park is still too expensive (about $130.00) but we are working on moving that issue forward.
We raised enough money to have another campfire...so now it is time to get planning again. In the mean time, mark Saturday, September 14th in your calendar for the Stone Soup campfire to be held with the Farmers' Market (during market hours).
Also, if you are interested in having a campfire at our campfire site please note that a permit is required. Permit information can be found at http://www.toronto.ca/parks/permits/general-information/rates.htm but is basically as set out below:
Barbeques/Fire Pit Permit Rentals
| Number of People | Rate |
|---|---|
| Designated Fire Pit Permit: 0 - 25 people | $23.74 |
| Designated Fire Pit Permit: 26 people and up | $77.83 |
| Undesignated Fire Pit Permit | $77.83 |
Insurance for Fire Pits and Outdoor Ovens
| Number of People | Cost of Insurance |
|---|---|
| 1 to 25 | $27 |
| 26 to 100 | $54 |

We are going to Celebrate Summer (and the End of the School Year) with a campfire!
Join us on Thursday, June 27th from 7:30 to 9:30 pm for a campfire at Withrow Park.
Don't miss this opportunity to check out our newly refurbished campfire pit, chat with your friends and neighbours, and enjoy an evening in the park.
Unfortunately, the cost of campfire permits & insurance remains prohibitive (about $140 in total for each campfire) so the Friends is unable to organize many campfires without financial assistance. Let us know if you would like to sponsor a campfire. We would welcome your support.

All About Withrow Trees
Join us on June 8th to help mulch our new trees (10 am) and for a tree tour (11:30 am). Learn how you can adopt a tree and help maintain the park's tree canopy. If you ever enjoyed a moment in the shade beneath a tree this event is for you!
Meet at the Field House (the building with the brightly painted columns).
Go to the Friends of Withrow Park Facebook page to see the posting for this event and get up to date details!
